Canton is a privacy-first, permissioned blockchain built by Digital Asset. Unlike public chains, counterparties only ever see the transactions they're party to. Confidentiality is a property of the ledger itself. It's designed specifically for financial markets, with native support for settlement, collateral management, and fund administration at institutional scale.
Your private keys are generated and stored on your device. Calden has zero access to them, now or ever. You are the sole custodian of your assets, with no counterparty risk from us.
When you connect MetaMask, Calden asks you to sign a message, a standard, safe operation that never exposes your Ethereum private key. That signature deterministically generates your Canton private key, locally on your device. The same signature always produces the same Canton key. No new credentials, no custody handoff. Your existing security model carries over.
Your Canton private key is derived locally from your login credential and never transmitted to or stored by Calden. Because the derivation is deterministic, your key can always be regenerated, so there is nothing on our side to lose, leak, or breach.
Your Canton wallet is mathematically tied to your login credential. Recover your MetaMask via your seed phrase, or your email account via your provider's recovery process, and your Canton identity is fully restored. No Calden support ticket required. We strongly recommend securing these credentials with the same rigour you apply to any institutional access credential.
